Urology
Urology focuses on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the urinary tract and male reproductive system. At Mason City Surgery Center, we work closely with referring providers to support patients who may be dealing with kidney stones, prostate issues, bladder concerns, or family planning decisions. Our goal is always to provide safe, respectful care in an outpatient setting that feels less stressful than a hospital visit.
Outpatient Urology Care with Comfort and Confidence
We care for both men and women and see a wide range of needs—from common urologic procedures to more specialized treatments. Our board-certified surgeons use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to support faster recovery, reduced discomfort, and excellent long-term outcomes.
Most urologic procedures at MCSC are performed on a same-day basis. That means you’ll return home with clear instructions and ongoing follow-up, supported by a team that prioritizes your comfort, safety, and peace of mind. We’re proud to be a trusted referral partner for primary care providers, urologists, and specialists throughout North Iowa.
Urologic Procedures Performed at Mason City Surgery Center
- Cystoscopy: This common diagnostic procedure uses a small camera to look inside the bladder and urethra, helping providers diagnose urinary symptoms such as frequent infections, bleeding, or discomfort.
- Urolift Procedure: For men experiencing benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), this minimally invasive procedure lifts and holds the enlarged prostate tissue away from the urethra, relieving pressure without the need for ongoing medication or traditional surgery.
- Vasectomy: A permanent form of male birth control, vasectomy is a safe, outpatient procedure that blocks or seals the tubes that carry sperm. It’s quick, effective, and doesn’t affect hormone levels or sexual function.
- Ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy: This procedure is often used to treat kidney stones. A thin scope is passed through the urinary tract to reach and break up the stone using laser energy, allowing for easier passage or removal.
- Bladder tumor resection: For patients with bladder tumors, a resection removes abnormal growths from the bladder lining using a scope and surgical tools inserted through the urethra—no external incisions needed.
- Interstim bladder stimulator: For patients with overactive bladder or urinary incontinence, this implanted device delivers gentle electrical pulses to the sacral nerves, helping regulate bladder function and improve control.
- And Much More.
